Zeze Millz has made a name for herself doing something women – and especially black women – are rarely encouraged to do: being loudly vocal about her opinions. The TV presenter and personality’s hit Youtube series, The Zeze Millz show, got her unique form of social commentary out there in front of the masses, and now it seems she’s become unstoppable.
Taking on prolific, influential, and infamous members of the entertainment industry and beyond isn’t a walk in the park. We might all sit behind our screens and think, or even shout, our opinions at them. But who would dare say it to their face? Zeze does.
Sharing her bold and irreverent opinions on topics ranging from Black Lives Matter to youth culture, Zeze is someone you want on your side. She’s interviewed the likes of Wiley and SPAC Nation church leader, Pastor Tobi, allowing them to share their opinions while fearlessly calling interviewees out on their more questionable behaviours. And that’s exactly what’s raised Zeze to fame. She says the things we’re all thinking, but might be too scared to speak out about or say to someone’s face.
Zeze toes the line, making her interviewees feel safe and confident in the space to answer her difficult questions. She isn’t rude or demeaning, she just asks the questions we’ve all been wondering about. And that’s what keeps celebs coming back to Zeze’s show when they’ve got something to share.
London-based Millz’s real name is unknown. She just goes by Zeze Millz, the name under which she created her Youtube series and the #headscarfdiaries movement. The hashtag encourages no-nonsense conversations around current issues within contemporary culture. Her videos have touched on homophobia in rap music, star signs, and dating. From the light stuff into heavier hitting topics, she always nails the brief.
Since building her brand online, Zeze has featured on BBC 1Xtra, Channel 5 News, and even Good Morning Britain. She was invited to be part of Beats By Dre’s roundtable talk show, Agenda, where big names in UK music and culture discuss the current climate. And now, alongside comedian Sideman, Zeze has yet another weekly series: Coz We Can. It’s another talk show where Zeze fans can get their fill of her hottest takes on what’s going on in the world.
