Mancunian rapper Aitch has been getting attention for his musical skills since the tender age of 15. A video of him performing for a group of friends was uploaded onto YouTube and he initially felt uncomfortable. His mind was soon changed once he realised the video had over 10,000 views.

Since his humble beginnings, Aitch’s success has been a straight and fast path. Earning various accolades from singles in the UK top 10 charts and nominations for Brit awards in 2020 and 2021. He has also collaborated with some of the UK’s biggest artists such as Ed Sheeran and Stormzy. In 2020  Aitch’s single with AJ Tracey ‘Rain’ was released. The track is produced by Tay Keith, a producer from the US most recognised for his work with global superstars Drake and Travis Scott.

Despite his global success, Aitch is fiercely proud of his Mancunian roots. The young rapper has been in playful discourse with Liam Gallagher since he called for musical collaboration in June 2021. The cheeky chappy has gone as far as to offer the legendary Oasis frontman £7,000,000 to be on his album. Gallagher has unfortunately snubbed the offer.

Aitch’s success has been a beacon of hope for rappers from the North of England. For many years UK rap and its different subgenres have been overwhelmingly London-centric. Aitch has openly stated that his roots are a distinctive quality, offering him an extra “bit of shine” that lets him stand out from the rest of many London-based musicians. The rapper is aware that making connections with the London music scene has been fundamental to his success. In a bid to open doors for other local artists, Aitch became a part of ‘Northern Quaterz’, an entertainment company founded to offer artists the same opportunities in Manchester as in London.

Music From the Heart

The stars meteoric rise to fame hasn’t been all easy though. Aitch spoke openly about his struggles with his mood, tweeting out in January 2022 that “feeling a bit down” was the reason behind the lack of new music being released. Aitch believes that the time has allowed him to create some of his best music that comes straight from the heart, offering a silver lining.

In the past 7 years, the cheeky chappie has well and truly cemented his place in UK chart music history. His rhyming style is highly impressive and his confidence as an artist makes it sound effortless, showcasing his youth. Aitch’s path to great success may have been short but there is no doubt that he has something unique and enticing as an artist. Undeniably bridging the world of UK Rap and Pop.
